It’s crit time! A closed-loop course with a rather deciding hill that we would go up again, and again, and again (28 times to be exact). The expected rain began to fall, which can add a little extra stress for riders going around 4 corners at a fast pace in a group.
All The Cyclery – Opus ladies took to the line amongst 49 starters, with the goal to have a step on the podium in the end. We certainly stick out in our pink and navy Biemme kits, especially with dreary skies, and had no trouble seeing through our Smith Optic Pivlock’s.
The race was hard from the gun and quickly reduced as each lap rounded the corner to climb the hill. This hill made for an ideal spot to attack and try to formulate a break. Not until the final 10 laps did a break occur with two riders gaining a 15-20 second lead to eventually finish 1-2 (Allison Jackson and Denise Ramsden). Leah Kirchmann rounded out the podium with Ellen finishing 5th and Annie 9th.
A great way to finish off Canadian Nationals as we get pumped and geared for BC Superweek!!
