The riders put in three quality workouts over the weekend: two on the bike at the Cyclelogik Powered by Caffeine spin studio and a three-hour snowshoe in Gatineau Park.  While Annie Forman-Mackey and Arianne Bonhomme were unable to attend as they were at a National Team Training Camp the core of the team bonded with the new members and the camaraderie is high going into the season.

Back for a sixth season, The Stevens Racing-The Cyclery Women’s Team is proud to announce its 2014 Roster.  In the coming season the team will continue its mission to help foster talented Canadian women as they make the transition from the junior and provincial ranks into the professional tier.

The team had a banner year in 2013, winning two gold medals and two silvers at the Canada Games and three national championship medals, and had several riders selected to National Team projects.

Returning to the team are double Canada Games gold medalist Annie Forman-Mackey, Canadian Junior Individual Pursuit record holder Arianne Bonhomme, sprinter Audrey Bernard and veteran Carrie Cartmill.  Annie and Ariane have both already been attending Cycling Canada track camps as part of the Stevens Racing-The Cyclery’s goal of integrating road and track development in line with the National Team vision.

Returning director sportif and manager Jenny Trew will continue to provide vision, organisational skills and tactical acumen to her charges despite welcoming her first child this winter.  She will continue to be supported by Assistant DS Chris Reid.

The team is pleased to announce the addition of:

  • Emily Flynn — the Ottawa rider well known to the team after  guest riding at last year’s BC Superweek;
  • Amelie Bruneau — a second-year senior with great potential;
  • Ellen Watters — a powerhouse all-rounder from Nova Scotia who last year came third on the general classification at the Charlevoix GP; and
  • Veronique Parent — a promising junior from Quebec City with a knack for the track, winning the Youth Omnium at last year’s Track Nationals. Veronique was the first Stevens rider to both race and podium this year with a third place overall in the youth racing at the Four Days of Burnaby!

As a result of their successes last year three riders have moved on this year to pursue more international racing opportunities and the team wishes these riders the great success in 2014.

The team would like to thank long-time sponsors Stevens Bicycles Canada and The Cyclery (a recipient of this year’s Canadian Cyclist Shop of the Year Award) for their continuing support.  The continuing support of these two companies has made growing the program into a premier development team possible.

In keeping with the team’s goal of providing the best material support and coaching support possible Stevens Racing-The Cyclery is proud to announce that it is partnering with Ritchey Components and Stages Power Meters for the 2014 season. Ritchey has a long history of making excellent racing components that are both innovative and utterly reliable, while the access to Stages power meters on the team’s bikes will allow for a new level of accuracy and precision in the team’s training and racing ambitions.
